DKブランド、ものづくりの原点

The Origins of Manufacturing at DK

1990年代後半、それまで受注生産のみのスタイルで生地を作っていた私たちは、「もっとこんな生地があってもいいんじゃないか」と新しい価値観を求め、遠州地方の職人たちとともにオリジナル生地の開発に着手しました。そこから多くの失敗と経験を積み重ねて誕生した生地が『Vintage』です。

Vintageは、柄や模様が無く一色に染める「無地染め」です。しかし単なる無地染めではありません。
下処理工程の一部を省除し、熟練の職人たちが長時間かけてゆっくりと染める、私たちが独自に生み出した製法です。
下処理工程の省除は、そのリスクを考えれば、到底手を出せることではありません。しかしリスクを背負いながら生み出したヴィンテージ物のような一点ものの風合いは、ファッション業界でもひときわ感度が高い人々から受け入れられました。

従来であれば ”×” がつくもの。そこに私たちが目指す ”○” がある。
私たちの価値観を変え、DKのものづくりの原点となったシリーズ。それがVintageです。

Having previously been manufacturing fabrics by order only, we decided in the 1990s that the world could use more of these kinds of fabrics, and, in pursuit of a new set of values, we joined with artisans in the Enshu region to begin producing original fabrics. After much trial, error and experience, the “Vintage” fabric was born.

Vintage fabrics are “plain-dyed” in a single color and do not feature any patterns. However, it is more than just a simple single-color dye. Our unique process was created incorporating a shortened pretreatment followed by a dyeing phase by skilled craftspeople over a long period of time.

The elimination of the pretreatment process, considering the risks, is not something to be undertaken lightly. However, the one-of-a-kind vintage personality of the items created by taking these risks earned the acceptance of significant figures in the fashion industry.

In the past, these are things that would be labeled as “bad.” With that in mind, what we normally strive for is the “good.” Here, we changed our set of values, resulting in the series that became the origin of DK manufacturing. That is the story behind Vintage.

従来の製法では、厚手の生地をしっかり染めるためには強力な下処理が必要でした。しかし、Vintageは毛焼以外の下処理を行わず、染料を使い長時間かけて染めることにより、厚手生地をしっかりと染め上げています。

長時間かけることによって、下処理を省くことにより生じやすくなる色ブレを防ぎ、しっかりとした色を出しながらも、素材の特徴を生かした自然な風合いに仕上げています。

With conventional manufacturing processes, the plain dyeing of a thick fabric requires a strong pretreatment phase. Vintage fabrics, however, undergo no pretreatment except singeing, followed by a long dyeing phase to ensure the thick fabric is thoroughly dyed.

Dyeing the fabric for a long time prevents the color blurring that could otherwise have been caused by the lack of pretreatment, and results in a natural appearance that shows off the material’s natural characteristics and features consistent, solid coloring.

    These are fabrics bursting with traditional, antique personality, even when new.

    Herringbone Vintage

    打込みのしっかりした丈夫な生地。目詰まり感、肉感に加え、杉綾織りらしいやわらかさがあり、上品さを兼ね備えています。

    ヘリンボンヴィンテージは、落ち着いた上品な表面感も特徴です。さらに使えば使うほどに着心地や使い心地がよくなり、使い込んだいい表情になっていきます。

    This fabric is tightly woven and sturdy. In addition to its dense, sensual texture, it features a herringbone-like softness for an elegant feel.
    Herringbone-Vintage is also characterized by its elegant, subdued surface texture.
    In addition, it becomes even more comfortable to use and wear the more it is used, taking on an excellent worn feel.
